Board President Tim James is a Lakes Region local who rose up through community tennis, attended Bollettieri Tennis Academy, and went on to lead a successful business and tennis career.

Tim is a founding board member and strong supporter of Advantage Kids. Born and raised in the Lakes Region, Tim got his start playing tennis in the public parks where he received free tennis lessons. “We couldn’t afford private lessons. I might never have learned to play tennis if it hadn’t been for the great free instruction I received as a kid.” Tim later went on to be a successful high school and college tennis player, developing his game at the Bollettieri Tennis Academy. Successful in business, Tim provides a strong analytic and creative mind to bear on the opportunities and challenges faced by Advantage Kids. Tim James joined the Advantage Kids board of directors in 2013. Tim was raised in the Lakes Region and enjoys the area and all it has to offer. He graduated from Gilford High School and has a Bachelor’s degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. Tim was a member of the original management team at eCopy Inc., a NH software company. Under this team, the company grew from under $1 Million in revenues during 1995 to over $70 Million in 2008. The company was acquired by Nuance Communications in 2009. Tim learned to play tennis through the free program offered by the park and recreation department in Gilford. He played competitive junior tennis throughout New England, went to the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton Florida for his senior year in high school, and went to college on a full tennis scholarship to play as #1 in singles and doubles. In addition to Advantage Kids, he is currently on the board of directors at the NH Humane Society and very active in animal welfare. In his spare time, he likes to boat, play tennis, golf, and spend as much time as he can with Charlotte, his English bulldog.
