Board Secretary Kathy Peverly joined the AK board a little over a year ago and is passionate about our unique Tennis + Yoga program.

Kathy’s passion for tennis began with her father who taught her how to play tennis using a wooden Wilson junior racket. Kathy and her sister played 2-3 mornings a week with their dad, before school, in preparation for the high school tennis team. She and her sister played singles and doubles with their most memorable victory in a doubles match against friends who played for the local rival team. Kathy’s father also started a family invitational tennis tournament in 1978 and he passed on his directorship to Kathy in 1998. The tournament continues to this day and hosts up to 150 participants of varying ages and abilities. Kathy shared her passion for tennis with her children, Ally and Mason, continuing the tradition of parent taught tennis with the addition of park and rec tennis for many summers. She even woke them up for several early morning tennis sessions at Gilford Hills before school. Once her children started school full time, she returned to play social tennis at Gilford Hills and started the Friday Night Mixed Doubles which runs twice a month. Kathy joined the Gilford Hills women’s travel teams (3.0 and 3.5), as part of the New Hampshire Women’s Indoor Tennis League. She was captain for many years doubling participation and eventually becoming the club rep, her current role. In addition to social and league tennis, Kathy has been the girls’ varsity high school tennis coach for about 8 years first at Moultonborough and then Interlake’s. She taught Park and Rec tennis in Meredith and assisted in Gilford and Laconia for several years and, assisted with Acing Autism tennis at the Laconia Boys and Girls Club. Kathy joined the AK board a little over a year ago and is passionate about our unique Tennis + Yoga program. She looks forward to assisting the board in strategic planning and programming with the goal of expanding our outreach throughout NH.
